BIOMARKERS AND EXPERIMENTAL MODELS

CNS and CV drug development often employs the use of biomarkers that assist in the selection of lead compounds, which form the basis of PK/PD models or provide surrogates for clinical endpoints.  At Clinilabs, we specialize in conducting EEG and quantitative EEG biomarker studies using the latest instrumentation available from the world’s leading vendors. Other biomarker procedures, such as those that involve brain imaging (e.g., positron emission tomography (PET) or computed tomography (CT), are available through Clinilabs’ relationships with local facilities.

Clinilabs is able to employ the following models to assess pharmacodynamic effects in early-phase trials.

Cognition                    Scopolamine

                                   Sleep deprivation

Anxiety                       Lactate infusion

                                   CCK challenge

Schizophrenia            Ketamine

When pharmacogenetic studies require the collection and storage of biological samples, Clinilabs’ staff obtains special informed consent from study participants, collects samples, and archives samples in our ultra-low temperature freezer. Samples are shipped to the sponsor or to an approved clinical laboratory for analysis.
