SLEEP DISORDERS INSTITUTE LAUNCHES ESPANOL.SLEEPNY.COM

New York, NY (March 18, 2008) – Clinilabs’ Sleep Disorders Institute announced today the launch of its Spanish translated web site, espanol.sleepny.com.  This web site is meant to accommodate the Spanish-speaking community in the metropolitan New York area.

The launch of this web site is important because approximately 16% of people who reside in New York speak Spanish, and many of these individual speak Spanish as their primary language.  Moreover, scientific data published in the peer-reviewed literature suggest that African-American and Hispanic people may have higher rates of certain sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.  Reaching these individuals with relevant healthcare information is important.  According to Dr. Gary Zammit, Director of the Institute, “Our ability to reach out to people in need has been enhanced by our Spanish language web site and patient information materials.  We are confident that this will help us provide better sleep medicine services to the community.”

Through this new Spanish language web site, patients can understand and become aware of the diagnosis and treatment for the sleep disorders that are prevalent in adults and children today.  Patients can also schedule an appointment online for consultation and studies with the Institute’s physicians.

To visit the Spanish web site, go to http://espanol.sleepny.com.
