Dr. Jonathan Sackner-Bernstein Named Chief Medical Officer of Clinical Research At Clinilabs

New York, NY (March 20, 2006) Jonathan D. Sackner-Bernstein, M.D., F.A.C.C., has been appointed Chief Medical Officer of Clinical Research at the Clinilabs, a clinical research organization affiliated with St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. In addition, he is Director of the Cardiovascular Safety Unit at Clinilabs, which integrates advanced technology to perform thorough QT studies, ambulatory blood pressure assessments, Phase I, and proof-of-concept Phase II trials. In conjunction with the Data Management Division of Clinilabs, he also is implementing semi-automated systems for centralized ECG analysis and the adjudication of adverse events for multicenter trials. Dr. Sackner-Bernstein’s professional experiences have prepared him for these roles, as he brings more than 15 years of cardiovascular clinical research experience to his new position.

Dr. Sackner-Bernstein is an internationally recognized leader in the field of cardiology research. He is particularly known for his expertise in cardiac safety, which has impacted the design of clinical trials utilizing devices and pharmacologic therapies. Dr. Sackner-Bernstein serves as an advisor to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Cardiovascular and Renal Drug Advisory Committee and as an ad-hoc member of its advisory committee. He also serves as a regulatory consultant for several firms to help them navigate study design and therapeutic safety for phase I through phase IV studies. Dr. Sackner-Bernstein is a guest lecturer for the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Masters in Technology and Management Program. He is also an active lecturer and visiting professor at leading medical centers around the country.

Prior to joining Clinilabs, Dr. Sackner-Bernstein served as Director of the Heart Failure Prevention Program at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Sackner-Bernstein earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and trained in Medicine and Cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Dr. Sackner-Bernstein and Clinilabs provide the expertise to design, conduct, and manage clinical trials, from both safety and efficacy perspectives.
