David Greenblatt, M.D.
Dr. Greenblatt is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Anesthesia at Tufts University School of Medicine. He is Director of the Clinical Pharmacology Program at Tufts University School of Medicine and Tufts Medical Center, and Associate Program Director of the institution’s Clinical Translational Research Center. A graduate of Amherst College (1966) and Harvard Medical School (1970), Dr. Greenblatt trained in internal medicine at the Montefiore Hospital, New York City, and on the Harvard Medical Service at Boston City Hospital.
Dr. Greenblatt has a scientific affiliation with Clinilabs, Inc. that allows his collaboration in protocol design and analysis of data from studies involving the kinetics and dynamics of centrally acting drugs. This arrangement, used on an as-needed basis according to sponsors’ requirements, has been applied on a number of occasions, yielding scientific data of considerable benefit to sponsors in the course of drug development, or in the post-marketing phase.
Daniel Goodman, M.D.
Dan Goodman, M.D., Senior Advisor to our Cardiac Safety Unit is a physician with extensive experience in cardiac safety and cardiac monitoring. Dr. Goodman is considered to be the “father” of centralized electronic electrocardiograms for use in clinical trials. He formerly was the Director of a Cardiac Core Laboratory operated by one of the world’s largest CROs. He currently oversees all Clinilabs' cardiac safety studies.
Jacqueline French, M.D.
Dr. Jacqueline French is a professor in the Department of Neurology NYU, in the comprehensive Epilepsy Center, and Director of the Clinical Trials Consortium. She is the former Assistant Dean for Clinical trials at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. French trained in Neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and did her fellowship training in EEG and epilepsy at Mount Sinai hospital and Yale University. Dr. French has focused her research efforts on new antiepileptic drug development. She has written many articles, editorials and chapters and has edited two books on this subject, and is the co-director of a bi-annual symposium on trial design and its implications. Dr. French has also been active in creating practice parameters, serving on committees of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society and chairing several practice parameter Task Forces. She is the 2005 recipient of the American Epilepsy Society Service Award, and the International League Against Epilepsy Ambassador award. She is the associate editor of Epilepsy Currents, the journal of the American Epilepsy Society. She has served on the board of the American Epilepsy Society and is the secretary of the American Society of Experimental Therapeutics. In addition, She is the head of the scientific advisory board of the Epilepsy Therapy Development Project, a private group devoted to the development of new epilepsy therapies.. She lectures in the US and internationally on topics related to antiepileptic drug therapeutics.
F. Xavier Pi-Sunyer, MD, MPH
F. Xavier Pi-Sunyer, MD, MPH is Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and
Surgeons and Professor of Applied Physiology at Columbia Teachers College, both in New York City. At
St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center he serves as Chief of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Nutrition, and is
Director of the New York Obesity Research Center. Dr. Pi-Sunyer is also a Senior Attending Physician at
St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
He recently chaired the committee of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute that researched and
defined the federal government's new guidelines for the prevention and treatment of obesity. He has
served as president of the American Diabetes Association, the American Society for Clinical Nutrition and
the North American Association for the Study of Obesity. He has been a Fellow of the Fogarty
International Center of the National Institutes of Health, a member of the Institute of Medicine's Task
Forces on Medical Nutrition Therapy and on Dietary Reference Intakes on Macronutrients. He served on
the 2005 U.S. Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of the FDA Science
Board Advisory Committee.
Dr. Pi-Sunyer is a distinguished member of many national medical and academic societies. He has
dedicated over 25 years of service to the American Diabetes Association, serving as President (1992-
1993) and chairing numerous committees at the national, regional, and local levels. In 1993 he was
awarded the Banting Medal for Service from the Association. He has also served in numerous
committees for the American Heart Association, as a member of the Council and Executive Committee of
the Council on Nutrition and Physical Activity, and as chair of the Obesity Committee. His research focus
is primarily on carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, obesity and diabetes
