Luana R. C. Pesco Koplowitz, MD, Ph.D., FCP, FFPM received her M.D. from Rutgers Medical School and her Ph.D. from Rutgers College of Pharmacy and Columbia Pacific University. She is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology and a member and fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the United Kingdom.

Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Department of Internal Medicine at the Medical Center of Delaware and also Adjunct Faculty at the University of Miami Medical School, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Clinical Pharmacology.

In addition to her academic career, Dr. Pesco Koplowitz maintains the position of President and Chief Medical and Scientific Officer at DUCK FLATS Pharma, LLC (Flemington, New Jersey), a biopharmaceutical consulting, and contract company specializing in adult and pediatric translational medicines, clinical pharmacokinetics, and nonclinical development in all therapeutics areas, including oncology. Previously, she was the Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of Research Assist, Inc., and has also held the position of Global Group Director of Clinical Pharmacology and US Nonclinical Development for the Janssen Research Foundation of Johnson & Johnson.  Dr. Pesco Koplowitz has as held leadership positions at Knoll Pharmaceuticals, Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Company, the Squibb Institute for Medical Research (now Bristol-Myers Squibb), and Key Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Pesco Koplowitz has received numerous awards in clinical research throughout her career and has served on the FDA/PhRMA QT Working Group Committee. Since 2007, she has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the FDA Cardiac Safety Research Consortium (CSRC). In 2015 she was an invited member of the International Neonatal Consortium of the Critical Path Institute for FDA/EMA/PMDA.

She is a frequently invited speaker and lecturer in overall drug development and regulatory strategy in adult and pediatric patients, translational medicine, neonatal medicine, clinical pharmacology, and cardiovascular safety and has been responsible for numerous successful INDs and NDAs/CTDs in multiple therapeutic areas during her 30-plus year career. Dr. Pesco Koplowitz holds several use patents in the treatment of various diseases. She is the author or co-author of over 30 publications and is a reviewer for several clinical pharmacology, cardiology, and pediatric medical journals.
